Beyond The Holster is an excellent primer for empty-handed defensive skills, particularly for those who carry a gun for self-defense, and lack a martial arts background.   A serious problem for people carrying concealed firearms is that a significant number of incidents that might require self-defense, don’t require or justify a firearm or deadly force.   It is very important that concealed carry practitioners have an answer to the basic problem of using non-deadly force in self-defense.   A lot of people are held back from addressing that need by the difficulty and scope of adopting a full martial arts training program.   Beyond The Holster can give you ready-to-use answers immediately, and point you in some productive directions of further training from there.   You’ll learn awareness, management of unknown approaching persons, strikes, defenses, grappling, weapon retention, and more.

I signed up with Phill for individual instruction on the range, as I had not yet purchased a handgun he was able to provide a wide variety of guns to try and explain the various features & strengths. I shot everything from a custom Browning .22 to SIG  9 mm , .38 and 1911 45. On the second session he also brought a S&W 625 45 ACP revolver in addition to his HK and several smaller handguns just to get a sense of what it’s like to shoot the micro. As a new shooter I never even heard of most of these guns and I don’t know of any other way I could’ve gotten such a great sequence of shooting experience and coaching knowledge prior to purchasing.

Phill is a very patient instructor and provides really insightful lessons on safety, stance, grip, sights, trigger, how to get a good group, and the various levels of proficiency to take you through all the levels of training at PSTC.

I wholeheartedly agree with the saying that it’s better to spend on training than to buy more guns if you want get good at shooting. Training with Phill is worth it!
