Takedown & Ground Defense

Staying up, getting up, and what to do in between.

Many confrontations don't stay standing. This class covers falling safely, takedown entries and defenses, and the priorities when you end up on the ground: protecting yourself and getting back to your feet. The focus is self-protection, not sport scoring.

What we'll work on:

  • Breakfalls and mobility

  • Basic takedown entries and how to defend them

  • Ground priorities: protect, create space, stand up

  • Controlled, cooperative drilling on mats

Who it's for:

  • Students who have some empty-hand foundation (Unarmed Self-Defense Fundamentals is a good start)

  • People who want to be less afraid of ending up on the ground

Format:

Hands-on, six hours, on mats. Location: PSTC, 12700 SE 82nd Ave, Clackamas, OR 97015.
